Why aren't the questions in random order?
We want to scaffold students to move from skip counting (2, 4, 6, 8) to instant recall. Skip counting is a good way to memorise times tables before your brain starts to create shortcuts (memorise!) times table facts. The Atom is designed to help facilitate this process by getting the player to compare, reverse and 'fill in' random times table questions.
I keep running out of time on a level
Because Times Table Galaxy is designed to help instant recall the time can seem short if you're having to derive from other multiplication facts or use your fingers. You can tap atoms to get more time, and keep practicing to help memorise those times tables. For students who are anxious about the time limit you can turn the timer off. Just tap the down arrow at the bottom of the screen, and tap the 'Timer' button to switch it off.
